Gone are the days of relying solely on cash or checks to transfer money. In today's digital age, there's a number of convenient and secure options available for sending or receiving funds with friends and family with just a few taps on your smartphone.

With Varo to Anyone and Zelle®, transferring money quickly and safely has never been simpler. The good news—both are available in the Varo App! Here, we’ll explore the features and benefits of both Varo to Anyone and Zelle® when it comes to sending and receiving money.

Factors to consider

Before using any online or app-based payment platform, it’s important to review factors such as security, accessibility, fees, and speed to make sure you’re getting the best fit for your everyday financial needs.

  • Security: Protecting your personal data should always be a top priority, so make certain that the platform you choose is secure and features advanced encryption and safety measures. Sending money with Varo to Anyone

Varo to Anyone makes sending money to anyone fast, free, and secure.1 Even your friends and family who don’t use Varo can easily receive the money you send them, all they need is a valid debit card and there are no fees!

  • Your payments and information are secure and protected with Varo–we use advanced encryption and safety measures to protect your personal data. We’re also proud to partner with the American Bankers Association to help keep our customers informed about staying safe from scams through BanksNeverAskThat.com.

  • With just a few taps in your Varo App, you can send money to anyone instantly, and they’ll immediately receive instructions on how to cash out their funds.

  • If you're sending to another Varo customer, they'll receive the funds instantly and will be notified if they have push notifications turned on.

  • Whether you're sending or receiving a payment, there's no fee with Varo to Anyone. Whoever’s receiving the money also pays no fees to cash out to their debit card.

Note: When sending money to someone outside of Varo, your recipient has 14 calendar days to claim their transfer.

Sending and receiving money with Zelle®

Also in your Varo App, Zelle® makes it easy to quickly send and receive money with your friends and family in just a few taps.2

  • By using just an email address or a U.S. mobile number, your payments are secure and your bank account info stays protected when you send and receive money.

  • Zelle® lets you receive money directly from the sender’s account to yours—typically within minutes.3

  • There's no fee to send or receive money with Zelle® in your Varo App4, and there's no limit to how much money you can receive with Zelle®.

  • Zelle®’s broad network of banks and financial institutions ensures that you can send money to anyone with a bank account within its network.

With Varo to Anyone and Zelle® right at your fingertips in your Varo App, sending or receiving money online and managing your finances has never been easier!

1 For transfers with other Varo customers, Varo to Anyone have set limits on the dollar amount or number of transfers each person can send or receive. Limits are set based on how long your Varo Bank Account has been open and your prior account activity.

You’ll find your transfer limits after selecting a recipient and going to the Send Money screen in your Varo app under where you enter the amount. Our system automatically reviews account activity, so your limits may change in the future.

2 To be eligible to enroll in Zelle® at Varo, you must have a qualifying direct deposit in the last 31 days. Once enrolled, you will always be able to access Zelle® at Varo, except that access can be removed at any time if you do not follow our terms and conditions or if you engage in fraudulent activity.

Varo customers that have had any Zelle® transaction in their Varo bank account prior to November 3, 2022 are grandfathered and will be eligible to enroll in Zelle® at Varo.

4 U.S. checking or savings account required to use Zelle®. Transactions between enrolled consumers typically occur in minutes and generally do not incur transaction fees.
