If you were laid off or had your hours or wages cut because of COVID-19, we feel for you. It’s a hard time.

If you’re looking for a new job opportunity or something to tide you over until the market picks back up, we put together a list of companies hiring during the pandemic.

Amazon

The shipping and web services giant still has many openings from engineer to warehouse worker. The company added 100,000 workers in October and currently has over 26,000 available jobs listed on LinkedIn.

Send in your resume using the company’s online application.

Salesforce

Salesforce is a cloud-based software company that provides businesses with a marketing and customer service database. Because of the increased demand for online marketing during the pandemic, Salesforce added 500,000 jobs in 2020

There are currently nearly 5,000 open positions listed on LinkedIn. These jobs focus on sales, service, marketing, business analytics, administration, and more.

Apply to its open positions on the Salesforce website.

UPS and FedEx

It’s probably not a surprise that two of the country’s largest shipping companies—UPS and FedEx—have experienced growth during the pandemic.

Online shopping and item delivery have gone up as hand offs and in-person shopping became restricted.

This is good news on the job front. UPS is hiring 100,000 workers this season, while FedEx plans to hire 70,000 people

Target

Target isn’t just the place you go to spend too much money—it can also be where you make your money.
The retail company plans to hire 130,000 holiday jobs, but they’re not all temporary. About 40% of holiday employees stay on as permanent workers.

Many of the open jobs focus on curbside pick-up and increased online shopping demand. There are almost 5,000 job openings on LinkedIn, and a lot of them relate to behind-the-scenes tasks like HR or operations. Apply on Target’s website.

McDonald’s

Although working in the service industry can come with plenty of challenges, there is definite demand in the fast food field.

There are currently over 41,000 job openings on LinkedIn at McDonald’s across the nation.

Many of the spots are crew positions that can earn up to $73,000 per year with benefits (depending where you live), or managers who can make more than that.

There are also corporate career options. Apply using the McDonald’s website.

Albertsons Companies

Albertsons Companies is the umbrella organization for grocery stores like Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Randalls, and others. With these chains, there are currently more than 18,000 jobs posted on LinkedIn.

Many of the positions are for cake decorators, store cleanup, or spots in the in-store Starbucks. Apply through the Albertsons Companies website.

Dollar General

Dollar stores like Dollar General are good for more than saving a few bucks—they can also give you an income. Dollar General has more than 53,000 open positions posted on LinkedIn.

These varied positions are for spots like warehouse workers, store managers, sales associates, and truck drivers. Apply using the Dollar General website.

Making an income during the pandemic

Many of us are in tight spots right now, but applying to one or several of these companies can be a first step toward more stability during the pandemic. Even seasonal work puts money in your pocket.

The most important thing to do is to avoid panicking, and taking action can help you with that.
